Former paramedic pleads guilty to stealing from patients

LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A former Lincoln County paramedic who admitted to stealing money from patients and co-workers will have to give that money back.
This was the third time a plea deal was on the table for Robert Drobinski and this time a judge accepted it in a Lincoln County courtroom Monday afternoon.
Drobinski admitted to stealing $1,225 between January and March of 2007. One victim was suffering from a heart attack. The other was 27-year-old Darriel Williams, a gunshot victim who later died.
Drobinski admitted to stealing $600 from Williams. He will now have to pay that money back. “The money didn’t really matter anyway. He can keep every cent of it. It’ll never bring my son back” said Debra Williams, victim’s mother.
The family was in the curtroom when the sentencing was announced. The former paramedic will have to spend 10 days in jail, not what the Williams family wanted.
“I think they were easy on him” said Darrell Williams, father of the victim.
“I wasn’t going after them for stealing from my son. I was going after them for doing nothing to help him,” said Debra Williams.
Still, the judge ordered Drobinski to pay the family the $600 he admitted to stealing from their son.

Drobinski will also have to serve 100 hours of community service. The Williams family says it’s not over for them yet, however they won’t say what their next course of action will be.
